“Now all glory to God, who is able through, his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.” (Ephesians 3:20)
There is a chapter in my book about the relationships we have with our children’s birth families. People are generally curious about these unique relationships and ask many questions. Commonly, the person ends the conversation saying something similar to “I could never do that.” This person is saying that they couldn't see themselves navigating such an uncomfortable or complicated relationship. This person is speaking out of fear and out of the unknown.
In my book I write the following about this topic,
“God opened our eyes to the see the love of a parent from a different angle. He showed us the sacrifice that parents choose when they put their children’s needs before their own. What God does to our hearts through these children and their birth parents would not be accomplished without Him. He worked within us to calm our fears so that we can continue to stay connected and grow in relationship.”
What conversations and relationships are you avoiding and missing out on because of fear? Alone, as individuals, we are capable of way less than if we team up with our Heavenly Father and let Him work within us. If we create our relationships in Him, we are capable of immeasurably more than without Him. Hard things. Uncomfortable things. Great things.
